AT THE STARTLINE: THE INAUGURAL KPMG SUNMILE
Organisers of the KPMG SunMile are delighted to announce the 1 mile dash will take place from 18h00 on 6 April 2017, on Fredman Drive, Sandton. The 1.6km run is now the biggest street mile event in the country and is held for a few reasons namely to encourage camaraderie between friends and colleagues through corporate wellness; to provide a platform for our elite runners as well as to raise funds for the Heart Foundation through the Executive Challenge.
Runners will recall this race being postponed earlier this year due to inclement weather,
“Ultimately we made the right decision to postpone as the safety of our runners will always be of upmost importance. We want to bring back the Street Mile with a bang, for participants to run, celebrate and support others: it’s an event that brings people together and rest assured that come 6pm on Thursday 6 April, we’ll be setting the Sandton streets alight” says Pierre Jacobs from KPMG. Entertainment on the route will include live performances, pumping music and DJ’s at the finish, including a live performance by Rubber Duc. The News Café precinct will be celebrated with food and drinks galore.
“There’s plenty for our nearly 2000 entrants to look forward to,” says Pierre, “Including an event T-shirt, finishers medal and free race photo’s posted to their social media pages. Of course the Heart Foundation is of primary importance to this event and we’ve already raised in excess of R50 000 for them thanks to the CEO challenge. Miss and Mrs South Africa will also be present on race day and enjoy the festivities and fabulous celebrations of healthy living, exercise and friendships!”
Entries can still be made at registration or on the day, so to enter as a team of 5 or as an individual. For more information on the event go to: www.sunmile.co.za or follow us on Twitter #KPMGSunMile.
