Fun, family festival tops the scoreboard

Tshwane – 30 September 2019 – Pretoria’s Loftus Versfeld was the place to be this last weekend of September, as the stadium hosted the hugely popular Tshwane 10’s rugby, netball and dodgeball sporting festival.

Over 90 sporting teams took to the fields on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 September starting shortly after sunrise and packing several competitive games into each day. There was colour, beer, music, food and festivities, and in true South African style the tournament shut down late into the night.

“We’re once again delighted with the Tshwane 10’s. Our relationship with the Vodacom Bulls strengthened our offering to our much-valued athlete’s as they played in the iconic stadium, in perfect weather, amongst tough competition, surrounded by family, friends and fans. We’ve seen the success of the Cape Town 10’s, and based on this weekends success, I have absolutely no doubt that the Tshwane 10’s will become as big in no time. Loftus was magic and the people outstanding,” says Tshwane 10s Festival Director Gerhardi Odendaal.

The festival was packed with celebrities including tournament ambassador Bakkies Botha; Gareth “SoldierBoy” McLellan; Jacques Burger, Richard Bands, Derek Hougaard, Danie Gerber and SA Netball players Erin Burger; Renske Stoltz; Izette Griesel and Shadine van der Merwe amongst many others. Trevor Nyakane was another well-respected individual who joined in the fabulous family atmosphere that’s synonymous with Pretoria’s sporting fans.

Perhaps the greatest highlight was the development coaching clinic held in conjunction with the Atlas Foundation Development Team and Rugby Tots on the pristine Loftus Versfeld pitch.
