Matched by MatchKit: HTH invests R500 000 into Kaylene Corbett’s Paris pool exploits
Pool chemical brand partners with 200m breaststroke Olympic finalist and Commonwealth Games medalist to maximise synergies in the build up to Paris 2024.
23 February 2023 – Today HTH launched its branded content campaign, detailing the minimum 2-year backing of swim sensation – Kaylene Corbett.
Corbett smiles; “I’m delighted to dive into this relationship with HTH: A brand synonymous with my playground, the pool. For as far back as I can remember I’ve dreamt of and carved out my Olympic participation – and HTH has literally been the constant ingredient every single time I’ve touched the water.”
Training up to 22 hours a week and covering between 42 – 56km, the Pretoria-based swimmer’s love of children led her to study Foundation Phase Education at the University of Pretoria. Next on the competition cards for Corbett is the SA Nationals and World Champs qualification from 5-10 April 2023. Following that, two options are available – the World Champs in Japan or World Student games in China.
HTH Marketing Manager Elsabe Venter says that the minute they were alerted to Kaylene’s 2024 Olympic Games potential, they dived right in.
“Athlete commercialisation platform, MatchKit.co, matched us with Kaylene, based on our obvious fit with one of South Africa’s most exciting swimming exports. Sports funding is a win-win scenario for both the brand and the athlete it supports – provided the values align and we believe that empowering young sporting talent is critical for our country’s future growth and success. For HTH, investing in Kaylene is an important demonstration of our commitment to our core values, one of which is empowerment. Our values are not limited to pool owners or HTH product users only, but rather to the upliftment of the community where we, as a brand, operate in. A growing and uplifted environment and country ultimately means success for corporates and individuals alike. We strongly encourage brands as well as the corporate sector to be active participants in moving South Africa’s up-and -coming sports athletes forward and you can do so by visiting MatchKit.co to ‘Adopt an Athlete’ for the Paris Olympics and Paralympics.”
Venter goes on to say that South Africa has one of the largest swimming pool markets in the world with approximately 800,000 private pools, not including the nearly 2,000 public swimming pools at various municipalities, resorts and gyms around the country.
“We look forward to using our brand presence and immersing ourselves in a powerful narrative with multi-dimensional exposure elements in the thrilling and uplifting journey of a world-class athlete on her road to the 2024 Olympic Games.”
Launched in 2020, sport tech startup MatchKit has been used as a crowdfunding vehicle raising in excess of R3.4m for athletes in need. To find out more: matchkit.co
